WHO-HD and WHO-DD

The WHO Herbal Dictionary is closely related to WHO Drug Dictionary and WHO Drug Dictionary Enhanced, it is used for the same purpose and is based on the same principles.

It is possible to subscribe to the WHO Herbal Dictionary as a stand-alone product, but if you are already a subscriber to the WHO Drug Dictionary or WHO Drug Dictionary Enhanced you can get access to a combined dictionary. This will facilitate the loading of the two dictionaries since the files structures and the constraints will be the same.

One major difference between the WHO Herbal Dictionary and WHO Drug Dictionary and WHO Drug Dictionary Enhanced is that WHO Herbal Dictionary is coded with the Herbal ATC classification. The combined product will be coded with a joint ATC/HATC look-up table. It is possible to identify if a code is an ATC code or a HATC code, if you want to look it up in a reference book.

If you are a user of the WHO Drug Dictionary you will not have to implement a totally new dictionary, the only thing you need to think about is the use of certain flags that identifies if a ATC code is a Herbal ATC or a conventional ATC code.
