The first official WHO Drug Dictionary User Group meeting in Japan was held in Tokyo, November 18.
Thursday, December 17, 2009
96 Users from 40 companies and organisations attended the meeting at the Swedish Embassy. A Swedish inspired buffet (also called Smorgasbord or Viking Style) was served afterwards at Hotel Okura next to the embassy. UMC presented news and future developments of the dictionaries. The meeting addressed specific Japanese requests and focused on coding drugs in Japan. The development of a Cross Reference Table between the WHO Drug Dictionary and the Japanese dictionary Iyakuhinmei Data File was also presented. Quintiles contributed with their experience of coding drugs in Japan. UMC wants to thank all presenters and participants who attended this first WHO Drug Dictionary User Group Meeting in Japan. We appreciated the discussions and questions at the meeting and afterwards at Hotel Okura. As all clients in Japan participated in the meeting we feel confident we have established a good forum to support future developments of the WHO Drug Dictionaries in Japan.
